Raising money for Village Water
We hope you can join us in celebrating the achievements of Emma, our Sales Consultant, and her mother-in-law, Pam, in their efforts to raise a total of £4,100 for Village Water. After a lot of hard work and effort Emma and Pam have managed to raise an impressive £2,000 towards their target.
Why Village Water?
Pam and her late husband, Eric, spent a number of years residing in Zambia during the 1980’s and 1990’s. During their time in the country, they observed the poor living conditions, economy and infrastructure.
Pam wrote about her experience:
“It was a shock to us to see how a town could have no plumbing or running water in the schools. Eric and I decided to raise money for the local school after Robert [their son] came home with the news that a child had died because of a cholera outbreak.”
After many months of campaigning and nearly half a year of work, the project to install a well and a tank with many thousands of tons of water into the school was completed. This provided safe drinking water and clean running water throughout the building. That was in 1987, since then things in Zambia have improved greatly however there are still 5 million people without access to clean water.
When Pam’s late husband, Eric, passed away in December 2015, they decided to honour his memory by donating money to a water project in Zambia. Village Water is their chosen charity that based in the UK that works on water projects mainly in Zambia. Village Water ensures that 91% of donations are utilised directly by Zambia.
How will my money help?
The target of £4,100 will fund hygiene education, sanitation facilities and a new well for a whole community of around 150 people. At the moment they take all their water from a river or a hole scooped in the ground. It is filthy and people suffer all the time from stomach, eye and skin problems.
How can I donate?
