SHAWTRACK CHOOSES RENAULT KERAX

FOR BESPOKE 135 TONNE CRANE

Leading designer and manufacturer of bespoke transportation vehicles, Shawtrack Services, has taken delivery of a new 8x4 Renault Kerax 410.16 double drive, with 5.05 wheelbase, through Renault Trucks distributor, RH Commercials. The truck has been converted, by Shawtrack, for draw bar trailer operation and is fitted with an Effer lorry loader 1135 crane with 6 hydraulic extensions and a fly jib with winch. It is one of the largest cranes to be installed in the Midlands.

The impressive vehicle will be supplied to oil and gas exploration company, Cuadrilla Resources and will be used to handle equipment on oil and gas sites nationwide.

Jeff Wright, Sales Director, Shawtrack, says: “Cuadrilla approached us with several technical challenges that they faced in the field and we put forward a bespoke solution to meet their full requirements. The total outreach of the Effer lorry loader crane is 24.23m, being able to lift 2,150kg at full stretch. The 8x4 Renault Kerax offers the strength and reliability that Cuadrilla requires, providing great ground clearance when on site, whilst giving the driver high levels of trim in the cab. The robustness and versatility of the Kerax copes beautifully with the

combination of the crane with its 6 hydraulic extensions, fly jib and winch. In addition to this, the back up offered by the dealer network is second to none and so the Renault Kerax made an easy choice for the Shawtrack design team.”

Eric Vaughan, Cuadrilla Resources, adds: “We wanted a truck mounted crane for ease and speed of transportation between sites and the Renault Kerax came highly recommended. Shawtrack was able to convert the Kerax to drawbar spec and build a bespoke tandem axle trailer so that we can now tow equipment to site with just one vehicle.”
